Pune, Sept. 29 -- The Bhima Koregaon Vijaystambh Memorial Committee has urged the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to approve the development plan for the Bhima Koregaon Vijaystambh National Memorial and immediately begin work on the proposed grand memorial.
A delegation of the committee met PMRDA Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary and submitted a memorandum seeking speedy approval of the development plan and reservation required for the memorial project.
Former Pune Deputy Mayor Dr Siddharth Dhende said January 1, 2027, will mark 100 years since Dr B R Ambedkar's historic visit to the Bhima Koregaon Vijaystambh. The centenary should be marked by initiating work on the memorial without further delay, he added.
