Chandigarh, May 24 -- Amritsar Commissionerate Police on Saturday claimed to have foiled a major target killing conspiracy after arresting two alleged shooters linked to the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang following a brief encounter in the city.

One of the accused sustained a bullet injury in the leg during retaliatory firing by the police, while the second suspect was also overpowered at the spot. Police said the accused were allegedly planning to execute a contract killing at the behest of a foreign-based gangster, Ankush Bahman.
