Agartala, Jan. 12 -- Tensions escalated in the Kailashahar Municipal Council area of Tripura's Unakoti district following the stoppage of construction of an old road and a cremation ground adjacent to the Manu Land Customs on India-Bangladesh border at the insistence of BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh).

Sources indicated that BGB personnel intervened in the brick-paving operations this morning, notifying the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) that, according to border regulations, no construction or paving activities are allowed within 150 yards of the international boundary.
