Kaithal, April 7 -- Superintendent of Police, Kaithal, Manpreet Singh Sudan, while cautioning the public against cybercrime, stated that cybercriminals have now devised a new method of fraud by posing as RTO officers, sending lookalikes of traffic challans aka the APK files, on WhatsApp.

As soon as a person downloads and opens this file, their mobile phone is hacked, allowing the fraudsters to access banking details, personal information, and OTPs, causing financial loss. Fraudsters hack WhatsApp and post the APK file to all your private WhatsApp groups , encouraging others to download the file and find new victims for their fraud.
