Mumbai, March 26 -- The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking is grappling with financial pressure and has formally requested relief from toll charges on buses entering the city. According to sources, BEST Chairperson Trishna Vishwasrao has written to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, urging that toll tax be waived for buses operating on routes that cross into Mumbai's limits.
Officials stated that BEST currently operates services on around 40 routes connecting Mumbai with Thane, Navi Mumbai and Mira-Bhayander, deploying approximately 382 buses for these services.
