Bengaluru, Nov. 17 -- Namma Metro has received the green signal for its Bengaluru-Tumakuru extension, offering inter-district metro connectivity for the first time.

However, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has strongly opposed the plan, calling it a "scheme that primarily benefits real estate interests" and urging the government to consider lower-cost alternatives like the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) or suburban rail.

The 59.6 km Green Line corridor will pass through Nelamangala, Dabaspet, and Kyatasandra. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has invited bids to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR), with the tender expected to open on November 21.
