Bengaluru, Sept. 2 -- In a significant crackdown on suspected illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Bengaluru, police have deported 31 Bangladeshi nationals from the Electronic City area, marking a major enforcement action following intensified scrutiny of illegal immigration in the city.
The 31 nationals were taken into custody and shifted in batches to Malda in West Bengal as part of the deportation process, police said.
The action assumes significance as Electronic City, one of Bengaluru's major employment and residential hubs, has come under increased police scrutiny over the presence of foreign nationals allegedly staying without valid documents.
