Bengaluru, Aug. 10 -- Karnataka Health Minister UT Khader on Monday defended the government's surprise raids on Bengaluru's five-star hotels, warning that establishments serving unsafe food would face strict legal action once laboratory tests confirm violations.
Rejecting suggestions that luxury hotels had been selectively targeted, Khader said the inspections were part of a wider food-safety crackdown and that hygiene standards would be enforced equally across the food industry, from roadside eateries to five-star properties.
"There is no compromise on food safety. Whether it is a roadside hotel or a five-star hotel, cleanliness and food quality are mandatory," he said.
