Bengaluru, June 28 -- A Bengaluru court has summoned Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge and Youth Congress leader Mohammed Haris Nalapad to appear in person on July 21 after taking cognisance of a criminal defamation complaint accusing them of making allegedly defamatory remarks against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The order came after the court found a prima facie case based on a private complaint filed by A Tejas, an RSS worker from Siddapura in Bengaluru. Following an examination of the complaint, social media posts, interview transcripts and other supporting material, the court directed registration of a criminal defamation case against the two leaders under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
