Kolkata, Aug. 15 -- : West Bengal will be one of the principal driving forces in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a "Viksit Bharat 2047", Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said in his Independence Day address to the people of the state on Saturday.
"PM Modi has envisioned Viksit Bharat 2047, and to turn that dream into reality, West Bengal will be one of the principal driving forces," Adhikari said.
The address was significant as it marked the first time in 20 years that a Chief Minister of West Bengal had delivered a direct address to the people of the state.
The last such address was made by then Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in 2006.
