Kolkata, July 20 -- The West Bengal government on Monday unveiled an ambitious roadmap to modernise the state's healthcare infrastructure, announcing projects worth nearly Rs 754 crore under the Centre's Special Assistance Scheme for 2025-26 and outlining a broader vision to transform Bengal into a world-class healthcare and medical tourism destination.
Presenting the plans in the Assembly, Health Minister Dr. Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay said the government was undertaking a series of infrastructure upgrades across major government hospitals while expanding affordable healthcare access through new initiatives in both urban and rural areas.
