Kolkata, Feb. 8 -- : The West Bengal government has informed the Election Commission of India (ECI) that it is in a position to depute 8,505 Group-B officers to carry out the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the state's electoral rolls.

Sources at Nabanna said the state has conveyed this information to the poll panel through a formal communication.

The disclosure comes just ahead of the SIR-related matter being listed in the Supreme Court on Monday, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to once again present the state's stand in person, as she did during the previous hearing.
