Kolkata, Sept. 7 -- The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) today conducted the School Level Selection Test (SLST) across more than 630 centres in the state, amid unprecedented security arrangements.
This was the first major teacher recruitment exam in the state since the Supreme Court cancelled over 26,000 appointments in April, calling the 2016 recruitment "tainted and vitiated."Around 3.19 lakh candidates appeared for the first phase of the exam, meant for recruiting assistant teachers in Classes 9 and 10. Aspirants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh also participated.
