Asansol, April 25 -- In the first alleged incident of post-poll violence in West Bengal, a Congress supporter, Debdeep Chatterjee, who was beaten mercilessly by TMC goons, died today.

Prasenjit Puitundi, Congress candidate of the Asansol North Lok Sabha seat, and other party supporters staged a protest along with the dead body and gheraoed the Asansol South Police Outpost.

Prasenjit Puitundi alleged that in fear of losing the polls, frustrated TMC goons had on Friday night attacked Debdeep Chatterjee, outside his house when he was returning home, finding him alone.

He died due to internal and external injuries in the wee hours today in his house.

Incidentally, there were no incidents of major violence like bombings, stabbings and firing...
