Kolkata, April 28 -- Trinamool Congress leaders on Tuesday alleged that the police observer in South 24 Parganas district is visiting the houses and misbehaving with women in absence of the male members of the family.
Trinamool Mahila Congress chief Chandrima Bhattacharya alleged that the police observer appointed by the ECI, and known to be an encounter specialist, is visiting the houses and misbehaving with women.
"Can any police officer visit the house of a candidate and harass the women members of the family," she said the ECI guidelines specifically mention that "an observer is the eyes and ears of the ECI and not the arms and legs." She said a complaint has been lodged with the ECI for taking the necessary steps.
