Asansol, April 5 -- During routine checking operations at Asansol Station as part of heightened security in the run-up in view of the approaching West Bengal Assembly elections, the RPF and the GRP nabbed a person after seizing 2.2 kilograms of unaccounted silver ornaments from him.
Later police came to know he was a member of the gang that had looted a jewellery showroom in Govindpur in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand on Saturday morning and was trying to flee to Kanpur.
He was about to board a Kanpur-bound train from Asansol station, when the joint inspection team nabbed him on suspicion.
Initially, the man claimed that he is a silver jewellery trader, but after prolonged interrogation admitted his crime to the police, the sources said....
