Krishnagar, April 1 -- The Election Commission of India (EC) has ordered the immediate suspension of a Block Development Officer (BDO) in West Bengal's Nadia district and directed the initiation of departmental proceedings against him following an alleged assault on a teacher during a poll training programme.
The alleged violence took place on March 27 during a training session for presiding and polling officers at Debnath Institution for Boys under the Hanskhali block. A teacher deputed for election duty, Saikat Chattopadhyay, sustained head injuries after objecting to the screening of a government promotional video at the venue.
