Kolkata, Sept. 2 -- In an effort to showcase the state's Durga Puja traditions on a national and international platform following the political change in the state, the West Bengal government is planning a mega cultural programme at Eden Gardens on Mahalaya this year where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to be present.

According to senior government officials, preparations for the proposed programme on October 10 have already begun.

The Information and Cultural Affairs Department has initiated the process of inviting tenders for various aspects of the event.

The government is also planning to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the programme.
