Siliguri, Aug. 4 -- West Bengal Transport Minister Arjun Singh on Tuesday alleged that entrenched "rackets" exist across several government departments, including the transport and labour departments, and said it would take time to dismantle networks that have operated for decades.

Speaking to reporters in Siliguri, the minister claimed that government officials and employees were also involved in such rackets.

"These rackets cannot be broken in a single day. They have existed for nearly 49 years. It will take time, but we are gradually streamlining the system," he said.
