Kolkata, June 3 -- The West Bengal government on Wednesday announced that it will expand the subsidised meal programme, increasing the number of centres offering cooked meals for Rs 5 and rebranding the state-run canteens as "Maa Ahar".
The decision was announced following a Cabinet meeting held at the state secretariat Nabanna.
Speaking after the meeting, Cabinet minister Dilip Ghosh said meals priced at Rs 5, currently available at 390 centres, would be extended to 100 additional locations, taking the total number of outlets to 500.
