Kolkata, Sept. 16 -- Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said West Bengal had completed 100 per cent of the fieldwork for the first phase of the 2026 Census ahead of the September 14 deadline.
"I am immensely pleased to share that West Bengal has achieved 100pc fieldwork completion for Census Phase 1 well within the deadline of September 14, 2026," Adhikari said in a post on X on Wednesday, describing the achievement as a "proud and momentous milestone" for the state.
According to figures shared by the Chief Minister, all 1,73,066 House Listing Blocks (HLBs) across every district, subdivision, block, municipal corporation and municipality in the state have achieved complete coverage.
