Burdwan, Sept. 25 -- Announcing a slew of measures for farmers, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday said his government would not tolerate middlemen and would soon announce a special package for potato growers.
On his maiden visit to East Burdwan district after assuming office as Chief Minister, Adhikari said there would be no upper limit on government procurement of paddy. Burdwan is considered the rice bowl of West Bengal.
The Chief Minister said the government would procure the entire paddy yield and farmers with up to five acres would receive Rs 2,700 per quintal, besides an incentive of Rs 20,000 for 100 quintals.
