Kolkata, June 25 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday alleged large-scale irregularities in the approval of building plans by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and warned of stringent action against all those responsible for the Taratala warehouse collapse that claimed nine lives.

Speaking in the Assembly while announcing financial assistance for the victims and their families, the Chief Minister said the plan for the under-construction warehouse at Taratala had been approved by the KMC on January 17. He claimed that the approval documents bore the signatures of then-Mayor Firhad Hakim as well as several municipal engineers.
