Jalpaiguri, June 9 -- Launching a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the alleged signature forgery controversy, West Bengal Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Agnimitra Paul on Tuesday said this is perhaps the first time that a case of 'signature theft' has come to light.

The signature forgery case is linked to a proposal concerning the post of Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly. Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee had sent the letter containing the "signatures" of TMC MLAs endorsing the proposal to name Sovandeb Chattopadhyay as the Leader of the Opposition.
