Kolkata, Aug. 28 -- The West Bengal legislative assembly is likely to convene a special session next week, running from September 1 to 4, though proceedings will be held only on September 1, 2 and 4 owing to a public holiday for Karam Puja on September 3.

According to Trinamool Congress sources, the session is expected to focus on the treatment of Bengali migrant workers in several BJP-ruled states.

The ruling party has alleged that workers speaking in Bengali are being branded as "Bangladeshi," subjected to both mental and physical harassment, and in some cases even forced across the border.
