Gangtok, July 30 -- With monsoon rains and landslides disrupting road connectivity across the eastern Himalayas, the West Bengal and Sikkim governments have stepped up efforts to restore, strengthen and upgrade key road networks to ensure safe and uninterrupted movement of residents, tourists and essential services.
In the Darjeeling hills, the West Bengal government has decided to take over two strategically important roads from the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) for comprehensive improvement and long-term strengthening. The roads include Rohini Road (Subash Ghising Marg), connecting NH-110 and SH-12 near Simulbari, and the Circular Road from Lebong Bazar to 3rd Mile via Rangayroon Tea Estate.
