Hooghly, Aug. 7 -- Two monkeys were killed after being struck by a passing train while crossing the railway tracks near the Simlagarh level crossing in West Bengal's Hooghly district's Pandua area, triggering poignant scenes as members of their troop gathered around the lifeless animals.
According to locals, the monkeys were attempting to cross the tracks to reach a tamarind tree on the opposite side when they were hit by the train and died on the spot on Thursday.
