Asansol, Sept. 22 -- The burnt body of a 40-year-old woman was recovered from a residence under the Jamuria Police Station jurisdiction on Tuesday morning, triggering speculation over whether the death was a suicide or homicide.
The deceased has been identified as Pampa Mandal, wife of Narottam Mandal (alias Nitai), an influential former Trinamool Congress (TMC) youth president of Pandaveswar block in West Burdwan.
The police have detained Narottam Mandal for questioning as they launch a probe into the circumstances surrounding the death. The incident has also been reported by local media.
