Kolkata, June 2 -- A Trinamool Congress panchayat chief was found hanging inside his residence in West Bengal's North 24-Parganas district on Tuesday morning, triggering a political stir in the area where he had recently been facing allegations of corruption and financial irregularities.

The deceased, identified as Jahidul Haque Baidya, was the chief of Jadurhati Uttar Gram Panchayat under the Baduria Assembly constituency. Police recovered his body from a room in his house early in the morning and sent it for post-mortem examination.
