Durgapur, Aug. 17 -- Mamata Banerjee loyalist Trinamool Congress MP, Kirti Azad, on Monday warned that he has decided to apply for a licenced pistol for self-defence, in response to recent egg attacks allegedly by BJP cadres, in West Bengal.

Speaking to mediapersons here, the Bardhaman-Durgapur MP said, "Everyone has the right to self-defence. We are also forced by the ensuing circumstances to look for licences to procure legal firearms for our safety and security. I choose a pistol for protection."He added, "We too have the right to protect ourselves."Targeting the BJP and RSS, he said, "They are throwing eggs at people to malign.
