Hooghly, May 31 -- A Trinamool Congress councillor in Rishra Municipality of Hooghly district has been arrested in connection with embezzlement of the women's financial grant scheme lakshmir Bhandar, police said on Sunday.
Partha Sarathi Gupta, the councillor from Ward-1, was presented before the Serampore court during the day. The court sentenced him to four days in police custody.
Urmila Devi, a resident of Ward No. 1 of Rishra Municipality, had alleged that her Lakshmir Bhandar's money got deposited in the account of another person named Vijay Sau. The woman alleged that she did not get any help fron the TMC councillor of the ward on this issue .
