Bankura, May 30 -- Three 'professional blood donors' were arrested from inside West Bengal's Bankura Sammiloni Medical College and Hospital, police reported.

Identified as Tapas Patra, Amarnath Rajak and Sukhdev Das, the youths hailing from different locations of the town have been booked for flouting prohibitions under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940. They were denied bail and given six days police remand by the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court here.

Each summer, the blood banks suffer due to a stock crunch and this year it was prolonged due to the Assembly Elections.

This, as some of the police officials think, inspired some youths to try their luck by choosing the prohibited practice of selling their own blood at a price per unit, so...
