Kolkata, Sept. 21 -- Tension gripped Bhangar College on Monday after BJP leader and newly appointed president of the college's governing body, Sayantan Basu, arrived on the campus, triggering protests by students backed by the SFI and ISF.
The protesters blocked the college gate and raised slogans against Basu.
Members of the ABVP responded with counter-slogans, leading to a prolonged exchange of slogans between the two groups and creating tension on the campus. As the protest intensified, the college gate was shut and Basu had to wait outside for some time.
Police from Bhangar police station reached the spot to bring the situation under control.
