Asansol, June 29 -- A 21-year-old youth was arrested on Monday morning, hours after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped near Kalyanpur in Asansol, located in West Bengal's Paschim Burdwan district, police sources said.
According to the complaint lodged by her family at Asansol North Police Station, the girl had been visiting her grandmother and was returning home alone at around 10 p.m. when the accused allegedly stopped her near the Seventh Battalion of the State Armed Police. The family alleged that he forced her to a nearby isolated area and escaped after committing the crime.
