Burdwan, June 20 -- A long-awaited bridge over the Bhagirathi linking Kalna in East Burdwan with Shantipur in Nadia ultimately is set to move forward, after West Bengal Governor declared a Rs 1,800 crore allocation for its construction on the first day of the state budget session.
The allocation sparked celebrations in Kalna, with BJP cadres, led by Uttam Halder were seen distributing Laddoos in Hanspukur area today.
The newly elected MLA, Kalna, Siddhartha Majumdar posted a video on social network, recalling his election promise: "I said during campaigning that if BJP comes to power, bridge work will start this year and finish in 2-3 years.
