Kolkata, Sept. 15 -- A major development drive is set to begin across the Sundarbans, with the state government clearing projects worth nearly Rs 1,000 crore covering all 19 blocks of the region, a source of the Department of Sundarban Affairs said on Tuesday.
According to sources in the Sundarbans Affairs and the administrations of North and South 24-Parganas, development works will be taken up in six blocks of North 24-Parganas and 13 blocks of South 24-Parganas. Around 500 projects, including both new and previously proposed schemes, are expected to be implemented in blocks such as Gosaba, Sagar and Sandeshkhali.
The projects will primarily focus on improving basic infrastructure, including roads, embankments and small wooden bridges. ...
