Kolkata, June 8 -- A police team from the Alipore Police Station searched a flat linked to arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) functionary Swarup Biswas on Monday.
The cops carried out the search at a flat in Sahapur Colony in Behala and had taken the brother of former sports minister and TMC leader Arup Biswas, who owns the flat with them.
According to a senior Kolkata Police officer familiar with the case, the search was conducted at the flat to look for documents and purported evidence that can further strengthen their case against Swarup, who is in their custody.
On Monday, the area around the flat was cordoned off as investigators carried out an extensive search for documents and other materials that could be relevant to the case.
