Burdwan, June 25 -- Two more alleged kingpins of a child-trafficking network were apprehended in connection with the abduction of an 18-day-old infant, taking the total number of arrests in the case to four, said police sources.
The accused were identified as Sheikh Saju of Malirbagan locality and Kamal Hossain alias Lalu of Hotudewan Pirtola in the town.
Police said the arrests followed the detention of Tapika Sheikh on Wednesday while probing the theft of an 18-day-old infant.
During interrogation, Tapika's links to the trafficking network were established. Then, Saju and Kamal were spotted near the Zilla Parishad office on Kachari Road here. They tried to flee on seeing the police but were caught after a chase.
