Kolkata, Feb. 12 -- A nurse infected with the Nipah virus died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Barasat in North 24 Parganas in West Bengal.
The nurse was admitted to the critical care unit for a prolonged period and developed a secondary infection in the lungs, which worsened her condition, according to hospital sources.
Another nurse who tested positive for the Nipah virus remains admitted to the same hospital and is under close medical supervision.
The state health department had earlier stated that no new Nipah cases were detected in West Bengal.
