Kolkata, July 13 -- Nine fishermen were found dead after a fishing trawler that had gone missing in the Bay of Bengal more than a week ago was recovered off the Bakkhali coast in West Bengal's South 24-Parganas district, officials said on Monday.

Preliminary findings suggest that the trawler may have capsized during rough weather in the Bay of Bengal, causing the fishermen to be cast into the sea. However, the exact cause of the accident will be established only after a detailed investigation.
