Kolkata, June 24 -- Kolkata Police on Tuesday night issued strict directives for Muharram, banning the display of weapons, playing of DJs and taking out excessively tall Tazias during processions.
Police stations have been instructed to ensure that communal harmony is maintained.
Muharram will be observed across Weat Bengal on Friday.
"No display of weapons is permitted on Muharram. DJs cannot be played during processions, and excessively tall Tazias are prohibited," a police officer said here.

Officials of the rank of Deputy Commissioners (DC) held meetings with officers from every police station during the day to convey the directives.
