Kolkata, July 2 -- Amid continuing speculation over the future of opposition unity following the Trinamool Congress's defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP and actor Jaya Bachchan called on former chief minister Mamata Banerjee at her Kalighat residence on Thursday.
Bachchan arrived at Banerjee's residence on a rain-soaked afternoon, accompanied by Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien. She was received by Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. The contents of the meeting were not disclosed, and neither side made any official statement after the interaction.
