Kolkata, June 9 -- Trinamool Congress leader and former Falta MLA Jahangir Khan was on Tuesday remanded to five-day police custody by a lower court in West Bengal amid stringent security arrangements.
Police brought Khan to the Diamond Harbour Sub-Divisional Court premises at around 4-30 a.m., several hours before the commencement of court proceedings and lodged him in the court lock-up. Sources said the move was aimed at preventing any untoward incident, as investigators had received inputs about possible demonstrations against the former TMC leader.
