Kolkata, Sept. 9 -- Gholam Nabi Azad, son of Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chairman Humayun Kabir, filed his nomination papers on Wednesday as the party's candidate for the Rejinagar Assembly by-election in Murshidabad.
Azad was accompanied by his father when he submitted his nomination.
The bypoll is scheduled for October 6, along with the election in Nandigram, after both seats were vacated by their respective MLAs following the 2026 Assembly elections.
The Election Commission has announced that polling will be held on October 6 in six Assembly constituencies across four states, including the two seats in West Bengal.
The results for Nandigram and Rejinagar will be declared on October 9.
