Krishnagar, July 16 -- A midnight raid by West Bengal Minister of State for Health Sumana Sarkar in disguise exposed what years of complaints could not.

Posing as a student, Minister Sarkar slipped into Kalyani's Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial (JNM) Hospital unannounced and walked out, alleging absent senior doctors, filthy surroundings, stray animals inside the campus and glaring lapses in hostel management.

Dressed in ordinary clothes and wearing a face mask, the minister entered the hospital shortly after midnight on Wednesday, accompanied only by a woman police officer, without any security personnel or official entourage.
