Siliguri, Aug. 19 -- A fresh landslide near Bengal's Sevoke town on Wednesday morning disrupted road communication between Siliguri and the Dooars for around three hours, exposing the continuing vulnerability of key road links in the hills and foothills amid persistent monsoon rain.
The landslide occurred at around 9 am, shortly after rain lashed Siliguri and adjoining areas. The sudden slide at Bagpul, close to the Sevoke Bridge, brought traffic between Siliguri and the Dooars to a standstill, leaving vehicles travelling in both directions stranded. The route was restored after clearance operations that continued for nearly three hours.
