Kolkata, June 5 -- Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Saokat Molla - an accused in the Bhangar bomb blast case - surrendered before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday night, sources said.

"Saokat Molla has given himself up to NIA. He has been taken to NIA's Kolkata headquarters," the sources said.

Earlier, a massive manhunt was launched to nab Molla amidst suspicion that he had fled the area.

Consequently, the NIA enlisted the help of the BSF to locate him. Strict surveillance had been imposed across all border areas of South and North 24 Parganas districts. Sources indicated that the NIA was even planning to seek assistance from Interpol if necessary.
