Asansol, Aug. 23 -- A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Kirti Jha Azad, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament from Burdwan-Durgapur Lok Sabha seat, and four others for allegedly threatening a businessman, demanding extortion money and hatching a criminal conspiracy.
The case (No. 352/2026) was filed at the Raniganj Police Station under the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate (ADPC). Police have invoked several non-bailable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 59, 198, 221, 308(6), 262, 263, 351(3), and 61(2).
