Purulia, Oct. 28 -- An assistant sub-inspector of the Excise Department was killed and his informant critically injured after a suspected illegal liquor dealer allegedly rammed their motorcycle during a chase in Purulia on Wednesday.
According to the complaint, Assistant Sub-Inspector Deepak Mandal, posted at the Joypur Excise Circle, had received a tip-off from a local informant about the smuggling of illegal liquor into Shilafor village. Mandal set out on his motorcycle with the informant to verify the information.
