Krishnagar, June 9 -- Former West Bengal minister Ujjal Biswas of Trinamool Congress was physically assaulted, heckled and pelted with eggs after a violent mob stormed his Krishnagar residence in Nadiadistrict on Tuesday afternoon, accusing him of illegally hoarding government relief materials meant for distribution to the poor.
The attack unfolded when a large group of BJP workers and residents gathered outside his house following allegations that tarpaulin sheets, rags and sarees-supplied for disaster relief and welfare distribution-had been stored for years without being distributed. The situation quickly escalated as protesters broke through security and forced entry into the premises.
